Giveback Timeshare (Givebacktimeshare.com) Reviewed
I inherited a timeshare from my parents back in 2005 and thought it was a great idea. I had no idea that 95% of timeshare had no resale value, and they were a nightmare to get out of. Whether I use the timeshare or not, I still have to pay the maintenance fee. Thankfully I haven't received a special assessment yet. I also gave up on trying to sell the thing myself because I just don't have the estimated 100 or so hours of work it will take to get rid of the thing. I decided to go with Giveback Timeshare. I wasn't excited when they told me that There were closing and title transfer costs just like a home, but you can't get around those. Giveback Timeshare isn't free, they charge a fee (Hint: haggle with rep you are dealing with and you can save at least $500). After it was all said and done, they did what they said they were going to do. I am timeshare free, and I don't have any messy title issues sticking around. This was quite a relief.
Several thing you should know about my experience with Giveback Timeshare - They get some negative press from upset people who are angry that they charge a fee for their service. I am personally OK with them charging a fee as long as do what they say they are going to do. Carefully read the reviews that you see. You will find that most people are upset about how they spent time talking with them thinking they were going to buy the persons timeshare, and that person thinks its a scam, because their timeshare has no value. I can see why they don't state their prices on the website. People don't want to believe the truth about their timeshare so their consultants need to be able to talk with them on the phone to explain the situation.
The company is one of the longest standing companies in the industry. The decision you have to make is whether you are willing to pay for their service now, or keep paying your maintenance fees for a couple of years, then going back to them.
Been retired for 3 years now and we are loving it. We used to own a timeshare because we like to vacation near where our daughter lives, but maintenance fees were getting outrageous year after year.
At first, we had some trouble, but we finally figured out a good way to get rid of it. Any tips or information about our experience can be found over to the left hand side of our website. And please leave a comment if you have a question about anything.
